Triple Modular Redundancy

The fault-masking pattern von Neumann’s analysis inaugurates: replicate a unit three times and pass their outputs through a majority-vote element, so a single faulty copy is outvoted and its error masked. The voter itself can be replicated and cascaded. TMR is the small-scale cousin of multiplexing and the direct ancestor of redundancy in fault-tolerant hardware and, conceptually, of Byzantine fault tolerance.
