Inquiry Dialogue

A Walton-Krabbe dialogue type whose shared goal is to establish proof of a hypothesis from agreed premises. All participants begin in a state of relative ignorance (the question is open) and seek a definite settlement supported by mutually-acceptable evidence. Distinct from persuasion (where one side advances a position before the dialogue) and from information-seeking (where one party already knows). Scientific peer review is a paradigm case.
