Computational Trust

The engineering instantiation of trust models in distributed and multi-agent systems: how an agent should update its degree of belief in another agent’s reliability based on direct experience, witness reputation, sociological reputation, and prejudice. The dominant analytical decomposition is from Review on Computational Trust and Reputation Models; the operational principle behind most models is reciprocal updating in the spirit of Tit-for-Tat. Distinct from cryptographic trust (PKI, DIDs) — computational trust is about behavioural reliability, not cryptographic identity.
