Information-Seeking Dialogue

A Walton-Krabbe dialogue type whose shared goal is the transfer of information from an informed party to an uninformed party. Asymmetric in starting epistemic state — one participant has knowledge the other lacks. The bulk of LLM-chat use cases instantiate this type; many of the failure modes of LLM agents arise when an information-seeking dialogue shifts (without the user’s awareness) into a persuasion or eristic dialogue.
