Attack Relation

The binary relation R ⊆ A × A of an Argumentation Framework: (a, b) ∈ R reads “argument a attacks argument b.” All Dung-style semantics is built from this single primitive: an argument is defended iff every attacker on it is itself attacked from within the defending set. Where the AF is instantiated by a structured argumentation system, attacks decompose into rebut (concluding the negation), undercut (challenging an inference), and undermine (challenging a premise).
